1. Who this applies to
This policy applies to people who use Advent Impact — supporters, members of organizations, missionaries, and the admins who manage ministry pages. It covers information we collect through our website, app, and emails we send you.
2. What we collect
We collect three kinds of information:
- Information you give us. When you sign up, we ask for your email and your first and last name. As you use Advent Impact, you may add a profile photo, post stories or comments, upload images and video, follow organizations, RSVP for trips, and make donations. We store what you provide.
- Information we generate from your activity. We record account-level events that are necessary for the service to work — sign-in attempts, sessions, what you have viewed (so that “new since last visit” works), and similar product-state. We may also collect basic analytics (page views, feature usage) to understand how the product is used.
- Information we receive from your device and browser. When you visit Advent Impact, your browser sends us standard request information: an IP address, the page requested, a user-agent string, and timing. We use this to deliver the service and to detect abuse.
We do not collect payment card numbers directly. Donations are processed by a third-party payment provider and we receive only a summary of the transaction.
3. How we use information
We use information to:
- operate the service: sign you in, show you content, deliver email digests;
- connect you with the organizations you choose to follow, support, or join;
- secure the service: detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized account access;
- communicate with you: send transactional email (sign-in codes, receipts, notifications you opted into) and respond when you contact us;
- improve the product: understand which features work and which need attention;
- comply with applicable law and enforce our Terms of Service.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your content to train third-party AI models.
4. Who we share information with
We share information only in the following situations:
- With other Advent Impact users. When you post or comment publicly within an organization, members of that organization can see it. Your profile name and avatar may appear next to your contributions. When you donate or RSVP, the receiving organization can see who you are.
- With service providers we rely on. We use third parties to run the service — email delivery, media storage and transcoding, hosting, analytics, and payments. They process information on our behalf under contracts that restrict their use of it.
- For legal reasons. We may disclose information when we have a good-faith belief that doing so is required by law, necessary to enforce our terms, or necessary to protect the safety of users or the public.
- In a business transfer. If Advent Impact is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you and the rights in this policy will continue to apply.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
We use a small number of cookies that are necessary for the service to work: a session cookie that keeps you signed in, and a short-lived cookie used during sign-in to bind a verification code to your browser. We may use additional cookies for analytics; where consent is required by law (for example in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom), we will ask for it before setting non-essential cookies.
6. How long we keep information
We keep information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we anonymize your profile right away: your name, email, avatar, and other identifying details are removed from our database. Posts, comments, likes, and similar contributions you have made remain on the platform but are shown as authored by “Anonymous,” preserving the integrity of the conversations and organizations you contributed to. Backups containing prior versions of your data are kept for a limited period and then purged on a rolling schedule.
If you want specific content removed before you delete your account, you can delete it from within the app, or contact us.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to:
- Access the information we hold about you;
- Correct information that is inaccurate;
- Delete your account and the personal information associated with it (see “How long we keep information” above for what happens to your contributions);
- Export a copy of the personal information you provided;
- Object to or restrict certain processing where applicable law gives you that right.
To make a request, email info@adventimpact.org. We will respond within the time period required by applicable law. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
8. Children’s privacy
Advent Impact is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. We require everyone who creates an account to confirm they are at least 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact info@adventimpact.org and we will remove the account and associated information.
9. Security
We use industry-standard security practices to protect your information: encryption in transit, secure password-less sign-in, restricted internal access, and standard operational safeguards. No service can guarantee perfect security, but we work to keep your data safe and to notify you in the unlikely event of a breach that affects you.
10. International users
Advent Impact is operated from the United States. If you access the service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. By using the service, you understand that these jurisdictions may have data-protection laws different from those of your home country.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the version number above and may notify you in the product or by email. Your continued use of the service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
